Weekly email archives and occasional extra words that don't have a home anywhere else on my site.
A cup of hot coffee sits on my desk. Iâve just flame-christened the wick of my jar of Edgewater Candlesâs newest scent, Cardamom Chai.
There is a turtleneck involved in todayâs wardrobe.
I might go so far as to say this morningâs weather was crisp.
Which means itâs almost time for this guy to make his annual bigger-thanâPunxsutawney Phil debut.
Itâs almost Han Solo season, when throngs of basics take to the street in puffer vests and tall boots.
Almost time for me to stop hating my life, meteorologically speaking.
Almost decorative gourd season, motherf*ckers!
That’s right: Itâs nearly fall, yâall.
Itâs my favorite time of year, second only to the holly-jolly and jingle-jangle ahead.
This season always makes me a littleâŚschmoopy. And a meme that danced through my Instagram stories a few times last week reminded me why that may be.
Oh-so-Pinnable variations on this are everywhere right now:
“Autumn shows us how beautiful it is to let things go.”
“Fall reminds us that change can be beautiful.”
And man, it really is. (Listen, an entire population self-identifies as âleaf peepersâ for a reason. Nobody takes a road trip to go see a bunch of green leaves still on a tree, just sayinâ.)
I adore change. I even have a tattoo on my wrist that reads, âLet go of the monkey bars.â đ
Itâs my mantra, a reminder that the best stuff lies ahead, but you canât hold on to the past if youâre going to reach it.
Do you embrace change in your business? Do you joyfully shed the old and tired, like so many brilliant vermillion and mustard-yellow leaves from a stately maple?
Or does changeâŚfreak you out a little? (Hey, weâre also heading toward spooky szn đđ¤ˇââď¸)
If youâre in that camp, here are some ideas that might help you shake that tree a little:
đ Reconnect with your dream customer. Are you still serving the folks you resonate with most? Do you understand where theyâre coming from, what they want, and what challenges stand in the way of them getting it?
đ Rejuvenate your âelevator pitch.â If you do, does it still describe what you do in a way that makes you proud?
đ Refresh your lead magnet. Does it showcase what youâre best at? And does it really provide value commensurate with gaining access to that most sacred of spaces, your dream customerâs inbox?
đ Revisit your email welcome sequence. Does it give the genuine, proper introduction to your business that new subscribers need to fall in love with you?
đ Retool your website. Sheâs a big one â the tree in the park everyone posts to their grid. Does your website still make you proud? Does it make it easy for that dream customer to raise their hand and say âYES!â to working with you?
A gentle reminder: You donât have to drop all your leaves at once.
And donât forget to look up and marvel at what you created before you rake it up and leave it in a bag curbside for the trash man to take.
Ooh, baby, thereâs about to be a nip in the air, so get cozy with your biz and make somethinâ happen.
If you need help making some space for change, I offer hourly coaching thatâs perfect for that. Iâll come in, peep your leaves, and equip you with the inspiration, strategy, and maybe even words to make those changes happen â big or small.
