I got an email from a local news organization on THE SECOND DAY OF DECEMBER with the subject line, “It’s holiday shopping crunch time.” 🙄

Sirs and madams, I respectfully disagree and slightly less respectfully ask that you cease and desist with that kind of talk.

Their goal wasn’t lost on me: to promote the businesses in their “shop local” gift guide before their readers blindly resort to calling Uncle Jeff for all their present-shaped needs.

But my goodness. I’m fully in favor of scaling back the “snowin’ and blowin’” of this season in favor of “tender and mild.” What say you?

With that in mind, let’s all CTFO and settle in by the fireside with a cozy cocktail. A Shrimp cocktail, to be exact.
